New Year's day arrival for 11 babies at Watford General Hospital

Posted: 9 January 2020

Staff at Watford General Hospital had a busy start to the new decade helping to deliver 11 babies on New Year's Day.

Baby girl Simmons arrived at 5.39am to proud mum Miriam who lives in Abbotts Langley. Baby girl O'Sullivan, who kept mum Emma-Rose and dad Dar from Kings Langley waiting 10 days, made an appearance at 7.06am.

Baby boy Leo Roman Brickwood just made it into New Year's Day with an 11.10pm arrival to parents Ksenia Cheremnykh and Harry Brickwood from Watford.

Head of midwifery Stella Roberts said: "Congratulations to all the families who have had an extra special start to the new decade and many thanks to our staff who helped bring them into the world this New Year's Day.

"It was business as usual for us, as on average, we deliver 12 babies a day at Watford General, our main maternity hospital. We also provide maternity services from Hemel Hempstead and St Albans hospitals. Visit our dedicated maternity site to find out more."
