Seven families welcomed the greatest gift this Sunday, celebrating the arrival of their babies on Mother’s Day.

Among the new arrivals was baby boy Adriel, born to proud parents Amarcachi and Michael Kemefuna from Croxley. Baby Adriel entered the world at 12 noon on Sunday 15 March, weighing 3.6kg.

Adriel is the first grandchild in the family, and Grandma Esther could not have been more delighted.

Grandma Esther said: “I feel truly blessed that my first grandchild arrived on Mother’s Day. It made the occasion unique and incredibly special. The medical teams were wonderful, friendly and highly supportive. Thank you to all the staff at Watford General.”

Another Mother’s Day baby, Skylar Liberty, was welcomed by her proud mum Angela Liberty from Harpenden. Baby Skylar arrived at 9.15pm, weighing 3.8kg. Angela’s mum, Grandma Ina, was especially thrilled to greet her daughter’s first child.

Also celebrating was the family of baby girl , whose first name is yet to be chosen, who made her arrival just before Mother’s Day at midnight, weighing 3.2kg. She was welcomed by parents Nilpa Shah and Ketan Lad from Bushey in Watford. She is the couple’s second child.

Emma Mitchener, Director of Midwifery and Gynaecology Nursing, said: “It is always special to celebrate new mothers and their families as they welcome their babies, but doing so on Mother’s Day feels particularly meaningful.

“I would like to express my sincere thanks to our dedicated maternity teams, who supported families and helped safely deliver their newborns during this memorable day.”
