Over 120 contestants went head to head to raise funds for diabetes care, at the Michael Green Diabetes Foundation's quiz night.

The event tested the competitors' skills and knowledge, and raised a fantastic £3,500 for raised for West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The money will go towards support services for adults with diabetes.

Samantha Sherratt, Director of Raise: West Hertfordshire Hospitals Charity, said: "We had such a great night at the most recent quiz, and we'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who gave their support so generously. I know that raising awareness is a big driver for the Michael Green Diabetes Foundation. Through quizzes like this one, and the care they support in our hospitals, the Foundation is working tirelessly to ensure that as many people as possible are aware of the symptoms and how they can reduce the risk of harm. Every £1 raised at the event was in honour of Michael himself, yet the impact will be felt by families across the Herts Valley and beyond."

Diabetes rates in the UK have soared in recent years there are now almost 3.7 million people diagnosed with the condition - and it's thought that many more people simply don't realise they have it.

The Michael Green Diabetes Foundation was established by Joanne Green, following her husband's death from a heart attack due to type two diabetes in 2012. Since November 2013 the Foundation has donated over £86,000 to Watford General Hospital, funding two specialist diabetes dieticians and a kitchen so staff can give cookery lessons to those who need advice on how to tailor their diet.
