Safari Day Unit

The Safari Day Unit provides day care for children and young people up to the age of 16 years. The unit cares for children requiring day care after surgery, treatments and investigations.

Opening times

The Safari Day Unit is open Monday-Friday between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00. It is not open on Bank holidays.

The purpose of the Children's Day Unit at Watford is to provide children and young people in West Hertfordshire planned hospital care in an appropriate environment, which does not require an overnight stay. The type of care provided includes:

  • Day surgery
  • Treatment for chronic conditions such as chemotherapy
  • Endoscopies
  • Sweat tests & allergy tests
  • Administration of intravenous antibiotics

Parking

Please ensure you only park in the designated visitors' parking areas. It you park in the staff car parks then you will be fined and possibly clamped.

Parking permits

If your child is admitted to Starfish Ward for more than 24 hours, then you will be entitled to a parking permit.

Parking spaces for disabled drivers

There are spaces for disabled drivers available outside the Women’s and Children’s Building.
