Biography
Dr Dhananjay Batwara qualified in Medicine in 2012 from Saurashtra University, India. He completed specialist training in Anaesthesiology in 2015, followed by advanced specialist training in Intensive Care Medicine in 2018.
After working as a Consultant in a large tertiary referral centre in India, he moved to the United Kingdom in 2021 and worked at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London, where he undertook rotations across a range of specialist intensive care units and achieved specialist registration in Intensive Care Medicine.
During his work in the UK, he developed a strong interest in critical care echocardiography and ultrasound, achieving FUSIC Heart (Echo) and FUSIC Lung Ultrasound accreditation through the Intensive Care Society (UK). He also has a keen interest in education and training in critical care and has been actively involved in supervising and supporting junior doctors and multidisciplinary teams. He has published a number of academic papers related to critical care practice.
Dr Batwara was appointed Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine at Watford General Hospital in early 2025.In addition to his clinical work, he has played a key role in developing ICU follow-up services at Watford General Hospital and currently leads a post ICU follow-up clinic, with a focus on the clinical assessment and ongoing management of patients recovering from critical illness.
