On 27 October, Amanda Pritchard, joined us at Watford General Hospital to meet staff, find out about our winter planning and see the progress on our new hospital plans.

Amanda’s site tour included the control room, the emergency department, Ridge ward, the roof (to get a bird's eye view of where the new hospital will be), the virtual hospital, and the redevelopment team (with our new 3D model and virtual reality goggles).

There were also two discussion sessions with colleagues from the Integrated Care System and Health and Care Partnership, to explain how partners across health and care are working together to improve services for patients.

During the visit, our occupational health team helped Amanda, who is eligible for a Covid-19 vaccination, prepare for winter and reduce the risk of serious illness, by getting the latest Covid-19 vaccination.

We ended the day with a discussion between Amanda and a group of women leaders from across the trust.

Amanda said: "I had a great day at Watford General Hospital, seeing both current ways of working and plans for the future. Thank you to everyone for making me so welcome."
