West Herts hospitals celebrated our many amazing teams with a showcase drop-in ahead of our formal Annual General Meeting on 9 November 2023.

Chairman, Phil Townsend, said: "It was fabulous to see so much of the great work from across the trust on show.

"From our brilliant staff networks promoting diversity and inclusion, to the educational focus of our simulation, shared decision making, and quality improvement teams.

"From the dedication of our charity, volunteers, and carers support, to the innovation of teams like integrated care, robotic surgery and virtual hospital.

"It was great to see a good turnout from colleagues and partners keen to learn about their work. Of course, exploring the designs of our new hospital with both virtual reality and a scale model were also a big draw.

"Thank you to everyone who took part, came along on the day, and helped organise the event. We were delighted that several local politicians were able to join us and meet our teams."

The service showcase was followed by our Annual General Meeting for the financial year 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023. The meeting marked the publication of our annual report and accounts for the year.

Phil opened the AGM thanking staff and partners for their ongoing support and commitment to improving services for residents across West Hertfordshire, saying: "It is great to be able to get together in person again after several years of online events because of the pandemic."

Phil noted that 2022/23 had been a challenging year, but that the annual report documented many great achievements that happened during the year.

Chief Executive, Matthew Coats, added: "I’d like to thank our brilliant, professional, and dedicated staff for all they do in caring for patients, and for supporting each other so well, often in very challenging circumstances.

"Firstly, foremost and always, our role is to provide safe, high-quality patient care, which we did day-in and day-out throughout the year."

During the AGM other members of the executive team provided updates on patient safety and quality, our performance in treating patients, and our financial performance. The presentations were followed by a question and answer session.
