Statement on behalf of West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust

A West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust spokesperson said:
"Sadly, we can confirm that two patients who were being cared for at Watford
General Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, have died. The patients,
who died on Sunday 22 March, were a woman in her 80s and a man in his 70s, both
of whom had underlying health conditions. Their families have been informed and
our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing
time."

The patient, who died on Saturday 21 March, was in her 70s and had underlying health conditions. Her family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."

"Sadly, we can confirm that a man who was being cared for at Watford General Hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, has died. The patient, who died in the evening of Monday March 9th, was in his early 80s and had underlying health conditions. His family has been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time."

The trust, DHSC, NHS England and NHS Improvement will not be giving out any further information on these patients.
The media are asked to respect the wishes of the families, and the interests of staff at the hospital to avoid any disruption to operational services.
