New Year babies brings joy to 17 families in west Hertfordshire

New Year signalled the start of a special year for 17 delighted families at Watford General Hospital as they ushered in 2023 with a new baby.

New Year’s Eve brought a joyful ending to 2022 for 11 families, including baby Daniel who arrived at 2.51pm, weighing 3,415g.

Six families welcomed the first babies of 2023 on New Year’s Day, with the first baby of the year - baby Pathmaukmar – arriving at 7.47am weighing 3,065g. Other New Year's babies included Julienne. Leo, Noah, Stuart, Xavier, Reuben and Niyah.

Mitra Bakhtiari, director of midwifery, said: "Our maternity team's hard work and dedication ensured the safe arrival of our New Year babies – doing what they do best all year round. Thank you to everyone involved in making the start of 2023 so special for so many families."
