Emergency medicine consultant wins national award for inspirational leadership

Dr Nida Suri, emergency medicine consultant at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, has won a national award at the BAME Health and Care Awards 2022.

Nida won her award in the 'Emergency and Critical Care Healthcare Professional' category for her inspirational leadership in the trust's emergency department (ED).

Having worked at West Herts for over 10 years, Nida is an amazing role model. She has been described by her staff as supportive, a good listener, appreciative and approachable. Nida embraces all cultures, promotes diversity at work, caring for both staff and patients to the best of her abilities.

Nida holds senior roles within the organisation and regionally. She is clinical director of ED at West Herts and vice chair of the regional Royal College of Emergency Medicine board.

Congratulations to the trust's three other finalists Rida Shafqat (nominated for 'Digital Champion'), Tejal Vaghela (nominated for 'Compassionate and Inclusive Leader') and Michelle Creese (finalist in two categories: 'Digital Champion' and 'BAME Nurse of the Year'.)
