The trust’s pastoral care team has been nominated in this year’s Audentior Awards for their hard work, dedication and commitment during the pandemic.

The local community awards, run by Watford Borough Council, celebrate and recognise the incredible efforts shown by organisations and individuals in Watford and who have made positive contributions to the lives of others locally.

The mayor, Peter Taylor, nominated the small team of chaplains for their dedication in providing 24/7 emotional, spiritual and wellbeing support to trust staff, patients and their families. None more so than during the first wave of the pandemic when the trust lost several colleagues to Covid.

The pastoral care team offer emotional support to colleagues and bereaved families through counselling and talking therapies or simply through a listening ear, supporting people irrespective of their religion or beliefs.

The team’s out of hours service aids those who need emergency support, such as end of life care patients and their families, parents with a premature baby or by blessing the body of a loved-one who has passed.

The team’s nomination acknowledges their devotion, support and dedication to the trust and the people of Watford and beyond.

The winners of the Mayor’s Award will be chosen by the public and announced at an awards ceremony on Friday 4 March. Representing the team are three of the chaplains including deputy head of pastoral care Theresa Taylor Brookes, interfaith lead Imam Shah Adnan Qurayshi and chaplain Rev Dr Steve Thomas.

You can vote now for the pastoral care team before voting closes at 12pm on Wednesday 23 February.
