The Macmillan Nursing Team at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust is holding an Information and Support Event for cancer patients and their carers on Tuesday 27 September from 11am to 2.30pm at Holywell Community Centre, Watford.

Picture of a poster advertising the cancer eventThis ‘Living Well with and Beyond Cancer’ event is aiming to provide an opportunity for people to talk about their experiences, find out more on support services available and to meet with the Cancer Nursing Team from West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

There will be information stands from various services such as Age UK, and Carers in Hertfordshire where advice will be available on benefits, diet, physical activity relaxation, exercise, hair and wigs. Complementary therapy taster sessions will be on offer alongside the opportunity to have a mini make over from a Boots No.7 consultant.

There will be talks held on the day from health and physical activity experts to make people more aware of the cancer support services which are available both in the hospital and in the community.

Michelle Sorley, Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust said: “It is important that people with cancer feel comfortable enough to talk to someone about their condition and to also meet with other people in a similar situation.

“The Cancer Nursing Team is also looking to obtain patient feedback on their experience as this information will help us improve our cancer services in the future. We hope this will be an enjoyable and informative event for all involved.”
