A long service award event was held on Tuesday 29 March at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust to recognise and celebrate the amazing contribution of staff who have worked for over 15 years – and right up to 45 years - in continuous service for West Herts and the NHS.

This year was different from previous years in that staff, who have worked for the NHS as a whole, not necessarily just for West Herts, for more than 25 years, were also recognised for their service. Over 100 members of staff who attended the awards received a certificate and a gift bag.

The event was opened by the Trust Chair, Professor Steve Barnett, who thanked all those receiving an award for their loyalty, dedication and commitment. He was supported by Helen Brown, Director of Strategy, and together they presented the awards.

This year saw the most number of people eligible for a 40 year award – previously the highest award given, with five receiving the 40 year award and one lady, Choon Eng Hodgson, receiving her 45 year award just one day after she had retired from De La Mare ward.

Professor Steve Barnett, Chairman at West Herts said: “It was a pleasure to thank each member of staff for their outstanding commitment and dedication to the Trust. Our staff are without doubt our greatest asset and on behalf of West Herts, we would like to thank every member of staff for their hard work and the exceptional care they continue to provide to our patients. We are very grateful to you all”.
