More about the trust

Our virtual hospital uses the latest technology to track the condition of a patient remotely, alerting the hospital team if it is necessary to increase the level of care.

This enables people to stay in the comfort of their own homes whilst saving valuable NHS bed space.

If you are admitted to our Virtual Hospital, you’ll be treated like any other patient in the hospital. You’ll be under the care of a consultant or community team, and receive the care and monitoring you need, but in the comfort of your own home.

We work closely with our partners Central London Community Health Trust (CLCH), to provide community care where needed, as part of South and West Herts Health and Care Partnership.

What are the benefits of being in the Virtual Hospital?

Other benefits include the reduced risk of hospital-based complications affecting you, and a more seamless transition into becoming independent once you are discharged.

Will I be safe?

The virtual hospital uses a sophisticated system which tracks your condition remotely, alerting the hospital team if it’s necessary to increase the level of care.

We will provide all the equipment you need and make sure you’re comfortable using it before you go home. The equipment is simple to use. Depending on your condition, you may not need to do anything other than wear the equipment and the data will automatically and continuously be sent to us. For other conditions, you may need to regularly add information to an app.

You will receive regular phone calls from our nurses and doctors

What conditions can be cared for in the Virtual Hospital?

We plan to expand this list in the future and provide support to a wider range of people for a variety of different conditions.
