Biography

Mr Torath Ameen is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. He was appointed to the Trust as an established consultant to support the development and clinical leadership of the Da Vinci robotic urology programme, with the aim of expanding minimally invasive surgical options for patients.

He graduated from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry and completed his higher specialist training in urology on the South London Urology rotation, gaining experience across several high-volume tertiary and teaching hospitals. This provided broad exposure to uro-oncology, andrology, transplant surgery, endourology and general urological surgery. He was awarded MRCS and FRCS (Urol) through the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

Mr Ameen completed a Master’s degree in Surgical Innovation at Imperial College London and is currently undertaking an Executive MBA at University College London. He has a strong interest in innovation and the safe adoption of new technologies within clinical practice.

His clinical interests include robotic surgery for kidney and prostate cancer, alongside the development of minimally invasive urological services. He also provides comprehensive general urology care, including the surgical management of benign prostatic hyperplasia, offering contemporary treatments such as Aquablation alongside established endoscopic techniques.
