Biography

I am a Consultant Ophthalmologist with specialist expertise in Medical Retina & Cataract Surgery. I completed Ophthalmology training in the UK and internationally, including posts at Moorfields Eye Hospital (London), Singapore National Eye Centre, Ireland and within the Wessex Deanery (UK), and was awarded CCT (UK) in Ophthalmology in 2025. I also hold a PhD in Ophthalmology from the University of Nottingham (UK), where my research focused on corneal nerve biology and ocular surface disease.

My clinical practice focuses on the management of cataract and retinal diseases, including diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular oedema and age-related macular degeneration, alongside a developing interest in Neuro-Ophthalmology. I perform cataract surgery and a range of ophthalmic procedures including intravitreal injections, retinal and YAG laser treatments, and minor ophthalmic procedures, with extensive experience in cataract surgery including complex cases. I work closely with colleagues across specialties, such as Neurology to support coordinated multidisciplinary care for patients with complex retinal and neuro-ophthalmic conditions.

I have an interest in service development and pathway optimisation, contributing to the design and implementation of clinical pathways aligned with national and international guidelines. This includes involvement in service innovations such as virtual retinal assessment pathways, imaging-based triage systems and OCT-based diagnostic workflows, supporting efficient and safe delivery of Ophthalmology services.

Alongside my clinical work, I am actively involved in training and education. I contribute to regional teaching through my role as Surgical Skills Faculty for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and previously served as a Regional Teaching Trainee Representative. I also participate in national trainee selection for higher Ophthalmology Specialty Training and regularly teach medical students, trainees and allied healthcare professionals.

I maintain an active interest in research, clinical audit and quality improvement, with work focusing on retinal disease, neuro-ophthalmology and service improvement. I also regularly attend national and international ophthalmology meetings to ensure that my clinical practice reflects current evidence and advances in the field. I am committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care and to contributing to the ongoing development of Ophthalmology services and training.
