The effort was led by the Hemel Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) team as part of their 100-Mile October challenge, with staff working together to collectively walk 100 miles throughout the month. Complementing the challenge, colleagues from across the hospital took part in a special Wear It Pink Day, while raising awareness of breast cancer and supporting vital fundraising efforts.
The initiative was organised by the team at Hemel Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), with staff from clinical and non-clinical departments getting involved and demonstrating the strong sense of community across the site.
Hannah Davison, Senior Emergency Nurse Practitioner at Hemel UTC, said:
"A huge thank you to everyone across the whole of Hemel Hospital for making our Wear It Pink Day such a success.
It was amazing to walk around the site and see the incredible effort so many people had made to wear pink. I'm delighted to say that we really did turn the site pink.
Our Wear It Pink Day was all about raising awareness of breast cancer, encouraging everyone to be breast aware, and raising vital funds for Breast Cancer Now and the Breast Clinic at St Albans City Hospital.
The sense of community, kindness and shared purpose across the whole site was fantastic to see!"
