People in Watford are being invited to learn simple skills that could help them save a life at a free community event in Cassiobury Park next month.

Healthcare professionals from Watford General Hospital will be at The Hub on Saturday 17 October, giving people the chance to learn and practise essential lifesaving techniques including CPR and what to do if someone is choking.

The free drop-in event, running from 10am to 2pm, is designed to give people the skills and confidence to step in when someone needs urgent help.

Visitors will be able to try CPR for themselves, with experienced hospital staff on hand to demonstrate the techniques and guide them through what to do in an emergency.

The team will also be raising awareness of sepsis, including the warning signs to look out for and when to seek urgent medical help.

Visitors can also find out more about organ donation, ask questions and learn how becoming a donor can help transform and save lives.

Knowing what to do in an emergency can make a huge difference, but many of us would understandably feel unsure about how to respond.

This is a chance to learn some simple but potentially lifesaving skills from our hospital teams in a relaxed and friendly environment.

You don’t need any previous knowledge and there’s no need to book, just come along, have a go and leave feeling more confident about what to do if someone needs your help.
