Professional Profile:
I graduated from Cairo University Medical School, Egypt in 1994, and then joined the National Cancer Institute of Cairo University (NCI), where I completed my surgical training, with a special interest in surgical oncology. Shortly after, I moved to the Gulf area for a couple of years and then to the United Kingdom, where I have worked in the East of England and London Northwest regions.
My academic qualifications include a master’s degree in General Surgery, Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, and Fellowship of the European Board of Breast Surgery, as well as a breast ultrasound scan diploma from London South Bank University.
My specialist interests include early diagnosis of breast cancer, individualised cancer care, and the use of oncoplastic techniques to simultaneously optimise patients' surgical treatment and aesthetic outcomes. To achieve this, I work closely with my medical and clinical oncology colleagues, plastic surgeons, and other members of our multidisciplinary team.
Research Interests:
I am heavily involved in clinical audits, service improvement projects, and research, with numerous national and international peer-reviewed publications (93 so far) as well as oral and poster presentations in surgical oncology, benign breast disease, breast cancer, and breast reconstruction.
I am also an editor and a reviewer for numerous medical journals.
