picture of an alert signResponding to winter pressures

We are working to implement the recommendations set out in the National Emergency Pressure Panel guidance that was issued on 2 January. This means that all non-urgent planned surgery at Watford General Hospital is cancelled until the end of January and some non-urgent outpatient appointments will also be postponed

We have been reviewing all planned, routine outpatient activity so that senior clinical staff can prioritise the care of our acutely unwell emergency care patients.

We are very sorry for postponing surgery or outpatient appointments but every patient affected will be contacted in advance and offered an alternative appointment. Please assume that your outpatient appointment or surgery is going ahead unless you hear from us.

NHS111: Consider calling NHS 111 for advice before coming to A&E. Or use the Minor Injuries Unit in St Albans or the Urgent Treatment Centre in Hemel Hempstead. You can also visit your pharmacy or GP. For more information, view our press release.
