Volunteering

We have a brilliant, active and highly valued team of over 500 volunteers who give their time to make a difference to patients and staff every day.

Our volunteering department provides support across all three of our hospital sites (Watford, St Albans and Hemel Hempstead).

Our 'Response Volunteer Hub' was set up in March 2020 and was one of the first in the country. It has been commended by NHS England Improvement, Helpforce and the Institute for Voluntary Action Research.

We currently have opportunities for volunteers to join us in our Response Hub.

Subject to completion of further training, the following opportunities are also available:

  • Emergency Department volunteers
  • Teens and Young people volunteers
  • Women’s and Children's services volunteers
  • Breastfeeding peer support volunteers
  • End of life care volunteers
