About the Gynaecology Service

The Gynaecology department is staffed by a team of committed and enthusiastic consultants, some of whom are leaders in their field and are active in publishing of research material.

A network of Clinical Nurse specialists, GP specialists, Dieticians, Physiotherapists, Counsellors and Nurses, supports the consultants, on top of the dedicated administrative staff. The department has established a good reputation with local GPs as a result of high standards and broad spread of clinical services.

The trust is also fortunate enough to have a dedicated Gynaecology operating theatre, which allows a large number of patients to be treated quickly and efficiently.

Patients who undergo Gynaecology Elective and Emergency Inpatient Surgeries are treated on Elizabeth ward, which is located on Level 1 of the Maternity Block at Watford General Hospital. The ward consists of 27 beds, of which 15 are used for elective and emergency Gynaecology cases, with the remaining 12 beds used for Gynaecology Oncology patients.
