Spinal Unit
Mr. James Langdon, Mr Venkatesh Balaji and Mr Simon McMull are Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons providing a dedicated expert spinal surgery service at West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Spinal outpatient clinics are held at St Albans City Hospital. Surgery is performed at St Albans City Hospital and Watford General Hospital.
Mr. Langdon and Mr Balaji treat all degenerative spinal conditions, including sciatica, spinal stenosis, spinal instability, back pain, and vertebral compression fractures. They offer a full range of surgical treatments for degenerative spinal conditions including lumbar microdiscectomy, spinal decompression, spinal fusion, vertebroplasty / balloon kyphoplasty, anterior cervical decompression and fusion / disc replacement, as well as spinal injections. Both surgeons liaise closely with both the physiotherapy department and chronic pain specialists.
