Background:
Mr Vimoshan Arumuham is a Consultant Urological Surgeon who works at West Hertfordshire NHS Trust (WHHT) and in the Stone Unit at the Institute of Urology, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH).
He specialises in the management of kidney stone disease and the minimally-invasive treatment of ureteric obstruction/injuries as well as undertaking a comprehensive practice in General Urology.
At WHHT, he is Lead for the Acute (A&E) Stone Pathway and is Medical Examiner to HM Coroner of Hertfordshire, with independent oversight of Coronial referrals.
Mr Arumuham graduated as a Junior Doctor from the University of Nottingham Medical School in 2006. He undertook Specialist Registrar Urological Training in North Central London over 7 years and spent his final few years and a subsequent Fellowship focusing on complex, tertiary-referral Stone patients referred from around the UK at the Institute of Urology, UCLH.
Here, he received the 'Markowitz Prize' for outstanding contribution to the unit by a registrar during training; furthermore, he was awarded the prestigious 'Darzi Fellowship' in Clinical Leadership, where he was seconded out of clinical practice to work with the Medical Director of the Royal Free London, redesigning surgical pathways with support from the Kings Fund.
He has a Masters Degree in Healthcare Management from the University of Manchester and used his thesis to explore the importance of organisational values and values-based recruitment for Service Improvement.
