Background:

Professional profile

I undertook MD thesis at the National Heart and Lung Institute prior to completing my clinical training as a senior registrar at the Royal Brompton Hospital and St George's Hospital. I have been a Consultant Physician since 1999.

I worked in Portsmouth for two years before moving back up to Hertfordshire to take up my current post as chest physician at Harefield Hospital and West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust

My interests within respiratory medicine include asthma, smoking related lung problems, TB/infection and occupational lung diseases. In addition I run the sleep service at Harefield (obstructive sleep apnoea).

I am an honorary Senior Lecturer in respiratory medicine at the National Heart and Lung Institute and current research involves computational flow dynamic studies of small airways disease and meta-analyses of published evidence for airway disorders collaborating with the Cochrane Airways Group.

Personal profile

Away from medicine I enjoy sporting and outdoor pursuits. Weather and time permitting golf and fly fishing are my main interests although currently spare time is shared with afternoons on the touchline supporting my children's endeavours.
