Background:
Professional profile
I qualified in medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1998. I then specialised in general paediatrics in Soweto and Johannesburg, South Africa.
In 2005, I re-trained in paediatrics in the London Deanery based mainly in North West London where I developed a special interest in neonatal medicine, integrated health care systems and medical education.
In 2017, I changed specialisations to paediatric epilepsy and neurology and have been appointed an honorary consultant at Great Ormond Street hospital in the Neurology department. I am currently developing a long term subspecialist interest in epilepsy and paediatric neurology.
I also have a broad interest in paediatric nutrition.
I have a special interest in medical education – specifically around supervision and mentoring. I am also currently responsible for 5th year UK medical undergraduates during their paediatric attachments at Watford General Hospital.
I am keen on developing Integrated Models of Care (Connecting Care for Children in West Hertfordshire) between primary care and secondary care sectors. I am therefore in the early stages of developing models of care between West Hertfordshire NHS Trust and the West Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group for the changing healthcare needs of the West Hertfordshire paediatric population.
