Mr Makki's practice covers a full range of arthroscopic and open shoulder surgery, including ASAD, arthroscopic and open shoulder stabilisation, SLAP repair, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, arthroscopic biceps tenodesis, shoulder replacement and fixation of upper limb fractures. He also undertakes a broad range of elbow, wrist and hand procedures. Mr Makki has a special expertise in one of the latest arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder called “the superior capsular reconstruction” whereby a piece of human tissue called Dermal allograft is used to replace the irreparable rotator cuff tendon.
He qualified from the Lebanese university medical school in 2001.He completed his basic surgical training in the East of England Deanery and underwent later a specialist training on the Mersey Deanery rotation. He developed an interest in upper limb surgery and undertook higher training at the internationally renowned Wrightington Upper Limb Unit. He subsequently pursued a one-year advanced training fellowship in shoulder surgery in Manchester.
In addition to his surgical qualifications, Mr Makki has a BSc in biology and a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine. He has a keen interest in research and has published several articles (27 studies so far) in scientific journals. More recently, he has published a chapter on shoulder arthroplasty in a major shoulder textbook. He presented research at national and international scientific meetings. He is a faculty member on the Wrightington basic science course for higher surgical trainees.

Mr Makki enjoys travelling, running and sports in general. He likes classical music and has recently started learning the violin.
