Chaplaincy

The Chaplaincy Service at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is a multi-faith department, providing for the pastoral, spiritual and religious needs of patients, relatives and staff.

The team in each of the hospitals across the Trust includes a strong and able group of trained volunteers who, supported by the full time professional Chaplains, visit the wards on a regular basis. We recognise that coming into hospital can be a very anxious time, and sometimes it is good to have someone to talk to. There are Chapels on three of the hospital sites and they are a shared space for prayer, worship or quiet reflection, open to all patients, staff and visitors.

There is always a chaplain available, day and night. Ward staff will contact them on your behalf. Roman Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu and Sikh Chaplains, who visit on an occasional basis, are also available on request.
