About the Service / Department
The Pathology Service is able to provide a range of services and information to Wards, Departments and GP Practices. If you wish to discuss any service developments or require information relating to or derived from the Pathology Service, please see the table of contacts below.
The Pathology Laboratory provides a comprehensive diagnostic testing and Consultant Advisory service for the scientific disciplines of Histopathology, Chemical Pathology, Haematology and Blood Transfusion, Immunology, Microbiology and Cytology. Phlebotomy for GP and Hospital patients, Clinical Haematology, Clinical Immunology and anticoagulation services are also provided.
The department also acts as a point of contact for Specialist Laboratory services, e.g. genetics.
St Albans provides phlebotomy for GP and Hospital patients, anticoagulant clinics and a limited Laboratory service in support of on-site clinical services.
The Clinical Director, Dr Robin Wiggins, is supported by the Pathology Services Manager (Mr Gerard Felix), and the Consultant Heads of Disciplines.
