About the department
The West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust ENT Department provides a high quality, modern and local specialist service to the entire population of West Hertfordshire, so you can choose to have your out-patient appointment at Watford General Hospital, Hemel Hempstead Hospital or St Albans City Hospital.
Adult operations
Adult operations are generally performed at St Albans City Hospital which is the WHHT designated site for adult elective in-patient and day case surgery. Here there are dedicated beds and wards provided for elective surgery patients. A small number of our adult patients who may need greater levels of medical support may have their elective operations at the acute site which is Watford General Hospital.
Children's operations
Children's operations are performed at Watford General Hospital with its paediatric wards and high dependency beds.
Emergency clinics
Emergency clinics are run on at least one of our sites every day. Please ask your GP to refer you if feel you need to be seen very urgently.
The team consists of 4 senior doctors supported by a team of junior doctors and a specialist nurse providing full out-patient and elective in-patient and day case surgery. We also provide emergency on-call cover to the whole of Hertfordshire together with our colleagues at East & N.Herts.
