Hip fracture service improvements recognised by the Royal College of Physicians

Our hip fracture team has been recognised by the Royal College of Physicians for their outstanding improvements in hip fracture care, following publication in the National Hip Fracture Database.

This recognition follows the service recently being shortlisted for a Patient Safety award at the prestigious Health Service Journal (HSJ) awards.

Revolutionary changes were made to hip fracture treatment, which has resulted in a 50% reduction in mortality rate since 2013.

The project, known as the Hip Fracture Journey, focuses on the 450 patients per year that the Trust treats for hip fractures - one of the most common complex and challenging presentations to acute hospitals.

Congratulations to the hip fracture team for their hard work and good luck in the awards!
