Dr Gangopadhyay is the founder of International Forum for Wellbeing In Pregnancy (IFWIP): www.ifwip.org. This is a global initiative to raise awareness of the importance of mental wellbeing during pregnancy and perinatal period
Dr Gangopadhyay is passionate to provide comprehensive obstetric care for women with all kinds of Perinatal Mental Health (PMH) illnesses (such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders/anorexia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorders and tocophobia) during their pregnancy and after the childbirth.
He provides the care along with the Multidisciplinary PMH team of the Trust comprising of Consultant Obstetrician, Psychiatrist, midwife and the Lavender Team (Vulnerable adult team of midwives).
He is a qualified Trainer in PMH and contributes to teaching and training for Obstetricians, Midwives, GP and other healthcare professionals.
He has expertise in gynaecological surgery (open, laparocopy and hysteroscopic surgeries) for the treatment of benign gynaecological conditions (such as heavy menstrual period/ menorrhagia, endometriosis, fibroid, dysmenorrhoea and chronic pelvic pain).

Dr Gangopadhyay's main focus of care is patient awareness/ education, involving patients in the decision making process and giving them choices. He is campaigning for better PMH care within the Maternity Services.
