Professional profile
I qualified from the Arabian Gulf University in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2004, then specialised in internal medicine and cardiology. I came to UK in 2011 to train in cardiology at Harefield Hospital. My subspecialty interest is coronary and structural intervention and permanent pacemaker insertion.
In October 2018, I was appointed as a consultant cardiologist at Watford General Hospital and Harefield Hospital.
My specialist experience is in:
- Diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease including acute heart attacks
- Coronary artery intervention (coronary angiography and stenting)
- The use of fractional flow reserve (FFR), intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT)
- Permanent pacemaker insertion
- Percutaneous patent foramen ovale (PFO) closure
- Balloon aortic valvuloplasty
I am the lead cardiologist for PFO closure programme at Watford General Hospital. I chair the weekly joint cardiology and cardiothoracic and the monthly structural multidisciplinary team meetings. I am the lead for British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (BCIS) audit at the West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
I am interested in medical education and regularly train undergraduate medical students and post-graduate trainees. I started cardiology journal club and teaching sessions at Watford General Hospital.
I have been a speaker in international interventional cardiology meetings like EuroPCR and TCT.
