Background:

Professional profile

I qualified from Oxford University in 2001. I then trained in cardiology and general medicine in London. I have done specialised training and research in cardiac MRI at the Royal Brompton Hospital, in cardiac CT at the London Chest Hospital, and in echocardiography both at Hammersmith Hospital in London, and also during an echocardiography fellowship at Hospital Bichat in Paris (2009). I have done advanced heart failure training at Harefield Hospital (2013-2014) including the care of patients after cardiac transplantation. I have been a consultant at West Herts since 2014.

My clinical interests are heart failure, valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathy, and all forms of cardiac imaging as well as cardio-oncology and cardiac assessment before non-cardiac surgery. I provide cardiac support to our breast cancer service. My research interests are mainly related to cardiac MRI and stress echo.

At West Herts I have been Clinical Director for Interventional Medicine, Associate Medical Director for Quality and Innovation, Clinical Lead for Virtual hospital, and am now Divisional Director for Medicine.

I am a board member and treasurer of the British Society of Cardiovascular Medical Resonance. I sit on the finance committee of the British Cardiovascular Society. I am a member of the Clinical Documents (guidelines) Committee of the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI). In NHS England I am chair of the Clinical Advisory Group for Virtual Wards in the East of England region, and I sit on the National Steering Group for Virtual Wards.
