Simulation manager for WiSER

My name is Bruce and I am the simulation manager for the West Herts Initiative in Simulation Education and Research (WiSER).

I have worked in the Trust since 1983: 17 years as an operating department practitioner, then 17 years as lead resuscitation officer and since 2017 I have had the pleasure of leading the simulation service. I have maintained my Resuscitation Council UK instructor status (ALS, EPALS and GIC) and still teach on these courses regularly.

I am dedicated to providing a safe learning environment for all grades of staff to practice technical and non-technical skills. I am particularly interested in Human Factors and enjoy exploring with our attendees how things go right - as well as wrong – and how we can improve patient safety.

I completed my MSc in Medical and Healthcare Simulation in 2014 and am aiming to develop the service over the next few years along with the excellent team I work with.
