The medical education team from West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust (WHHT) have received a prestigious award from University College London (UCL) in recognition of ‘excellence in medical education’.

The award, which recognises the exceptional clinical training programmes for undergraduate medical students delivered by the trust, was presented during the UCL medical school graduation ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall in London on 3 July. Several members of the team from West Herts attended the ceremony to receive the award and joined dignitaries on the stage as part of the academic procession.

Dr Ashley Reece, undergraduate tutor at WHHT, said: “I could not be prouder of this achievement. It is true to say that each member of the medical education team at West Herts has made a massive contribution in their role to the students, some over many years, and it is a great accolade. We see many of the medical students returning to West Herts as qualified doctors not least because of the excellent support and experience they have had during their attachments as undergraduates in the trust.”

The recipients of the award are Alex Paice (undergraduate supervisor), Vijay Sharma (clinical skills co-ordinator), David Goodier (medical education manger), Dr Jasleen Arora (clinical skills facilitator, 2018/19), Bruce Kerr (simulation manager) and Mary Holding (simulation technician).
