Responding to winter pressures - April 2018

Following guidance in January from the National Emergency Pressure Panel (NEPP), we deferred non-urgent planned surgery at Watford General Hospital and some non-urgent outpatient appointments, while routine surgery at St Albans City Hospital continued as normal. We are sorry if your appointment was postponed.

Most of our outpatient activity is returning to normal and further to the latest NEPP guidance, we will resume planned operations at Watford General Hospital as soon as the demand for urgent care lessens. Please assume that your outpatient appointment or surgery is going ahead unless you hear from us.

NHS 111: Consider calling NHS 111 for advice before coming to A&E. Or use the Minor Injuries Unit in St Albans or the Urgent Treatment Centre in Hemel Hempstead. You can also visit your pharmacy or GP. For more information, view our press release.
