Assessment centres

How to prepare

To get the most from your assessment centre, it is important that you prepare well. It is your moment to shine and to demonstrate your skills and capabilities to the interviewing panel.

  • Interact well with the other participants by being friendly and joining in
  • Don’t dominate the session or discussions, but contribute openly
  • Follow any instructions you are given carefully, if you are uncertain then ask as it is important you demonstrate accurately what you have been asked to do
  • Make sure you are well-practised in any clinical skills you will be expected to demonstrate
  • Practice drug calculations
  • Research our hospitals.

After the assessment

We will contact you with the results of your assessment, usually the following day.

  • If successful, you will be made a conditional offer
  • If you are successful at the interview but fail the written assessment, you will be given the opportunity to answer the failed questions again
  • If you fail both elements, or do not have the essential personal skills and attributes, you will not be offered a post.
