Professional profile

Chee Toh is an experienced and fully accredited Consultant ENT Surgeon. He became a consultant at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in 2005 and has been Head of Department since 2009.

He was born in England and qualified in medicine from the Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, now part of Imperial College. After first completing a period of training in general surgery, and obtaining the FRCS, he embarked on higher specialist training in ENT/Head & Neck Surgery and obtained the specialist FRCS (ORL-HNS) qualification. Mr. Toh is on the GMC Specialist Register for Otolaryngology.

During his training, he has held training positions at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Royal Free Hospital. He has held sub-specialist training positions in Surgical Otology engaged in middle ear, cholesteatoma, hearing chain reconstruction and bone anchored hearing aid surgery at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Birmingham, and an extended period in Paediatric ENT at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital performing cochlear implantation and paediatric palatal and laryngeal surgery.

He has also held advanced training positions in Rhinology/Facial Plastics, as well as in benign and malignant thyroid gland surgery at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Birmingham, and attended a period of additional training in Otology in Holland. He is a keen medical teacher and continues to update and develop his own knowledge and skills.

Personal profile

Mr. Toh was born in England but was lucky to spend a few years of his childhood in the warmer temperatures of Malaysia. He is married with 3 children. Outside of work he likes to read widely, take photos of anything that catches his eye, watch movies, ski, skate and travel.
