Over the last 20 years, consultant general surgeon Mr Mustafa Halawa's surgical practice has benefited from working in three different surgical schools in the UK, Germany and Egypt. This has enabled him to integrate various techniques in the development of his practice.
Vascular surgery (elective and emergency)
Peripheral Occlusive Arterial Disease: Mr Halawa gained wide experience in peripheral arterial reconstruction, especially in diabetic patients. This experience encompasses 300 reconstructions including over 100 femoro-distal bypasses. This has evolved from regular participation in joint vascular and diabetic ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings.
Endovascular Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm {AAA} Repair (EVAR): Mr Halawa has been involved in over 150 cases of endovascular AAA repair. He performs the pre-operative planning of procedures through both multidisciplinary meetings and personal initiative.
Vascular Access for Haemodialysis: Mr Halawa has wide experience in construction of various arteriovenous fistulae, gained from over 200 procedures.
Carotid Surgery: Mr Halawa performs carotid surgery under both local and general anaesthesia, and selectively shunt patients depending on clinical neurological assessment.
Open Repair of Aortoiliac Aneurysm and Occlusive Disease: Mr Halawa has been involved in over 250 elective and emergency abdominal aortic reconstructions including performing over 100 procedures.
Varicose Veins: This includes redo open surgery and endovenous procedures.
