Professional profile

Dr King graduated from The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in 1991. He completed his specialist training in gastroenterology and general medicine on the South East Thames Specialist Registrar training rotation which included posts at King’s College Hospital Liver Unit and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals. He undertook research at St Thomas’ Hospital, which led to a PhD from the University of London.

Dr King enjoys all aspects of gastroenterology but has special interests in colonoscopy and polypectomy, gastrointestinal cancer, pancreatic and biliary disorders, and hepatology. He is the clinical lead for the West Herts endoscopy unit, and is an accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist.

Personal profile

Dr King lives in St Albans with his wife and 2 children. He is a guitarist and pianist.

He is an obsessive skier, enjoying off-piste in the mountains during the winter months, and training for and competing in slalom competitions on artificial slopes during the rest of the year.
