Background
Dr Pokrajac graduated with distinction from the University of Belgrade in Jan 2000. Upon graduation, she joined training and research program at the University Hospitals in Belgrade and the University of Manchester where she also completed specialty training with the North Western Deanery in Diabetes, Endocrinology and GIM.
Dr Pokrajac holds an MD in endocrinology from the Christie (Manchester) focused on growth hormone and metabolic factors influencing individuals’ responses to it. She presented in variety of national and international conferences.
In December 2012, Dr Pokrajac joined the team at the West Hearts Hospital Trust and set up the service for people diabetes and chronic kidney disease. She also leads on Thyroid Eye Disease management for the trust. Her clinics include: diabetes community clinics, young adult diabetes clinic, diabetes renal clinic, endocrine clinic, joint antenatal clinic for patients with diabetes and endocrine problems in pregnancy.
Dr Pokrajac is a core member of Thyroid Cancer MDT affiliated to head and neck cancer network (Luton and Dunstable). She teaches medical students and is an educational supervisor for junior doctors and specialist registrars.
Dr Pokrajac has received grant to organise an interest group to improve care of the patients with diabetes and CKD nationally. She is an ABCD Committee Member since 2014 and the ABCD-RA national guidelines writing group member. She is a core member of the organising board for Hertfordshire Diabetes Conference.
