VTE.
Assess.
Prevent.
VTE (venous thrombo-embolism - the term for blood clots - DVT and Pulmonary Embolism) is a significant cause of mortality, long-term disability and chronic ill health.
It is thought that there are around 25,000 preventable deaths from VTE each year in hospitals in the UK (that's more than MRSA, AIDS, breast cancer and road traffic accidents combined!
Every year we see more than 100,000 patients in our A&E departments, Minor Injury Units, Outpatient Departments, Maternity Unit and on our wards.
If you are preparing to visit us please browse the information contained in these pages.
You will find information about how to get to our hospitals, our parking facilities, what to expect during your stay, what to bring (and what not to bring), the shops and facilities available on each hospital site - and much more.
You will also find information about the interpreting help that is available to you if English is not your first language, and about the counselling and support services we can provide.
