Occupational Therapy, Watford General Hospital

About the Service / Department

The Occupational Therapy department is open between 08:00am and 4:00 pm Monday-Friday. The team is composed of Occupational Therapists, Assistants and Admin staff. The team are responsible for the OT intervention / support for hospital inpatients.

Location

We are situated behind the Pharmacy department in H block at Watford General Hospital.

Service / Department specialties

The Occupational Therapists provide assessment and treatment to patients in A&E, acute stroke, medical, older people, orthopaedics and surgery.

We also provide advice and specialist assessment and liaison with colleagues in Primary care.

Referrals / Appointments

We only accept referrals for patients in A&E/ Rapid assessment unit or inpatients at WGH on the following wards:

Cassio, Aldenham, Heronsgate, Croxley, Sarratt, Ridge, Flaunden, Langley, Acute Stroke unit and Fractured neck of Femur bay.

The OT team is in daily contact with the wards and attend ward meetings as appropriate to communicate with MDT regarding patients' care and progress.

The OT team accepts written referrals using a single assessment contact assessment form, the only exceptions to this are A&E/RAU, Acute stroke and hip and knee patients who are seen on a blanket referral system.
