About the Service / Department
The Occupational Therapy department is open between 08:30am and 4:30 pm Monday-Friday. The team is composed of Occupational Therapists, Assistants and Admin staff. The team are responsible for the OT intervention / support for hospital inpatients.
Location
We are situated on Hanover Ward, Windsor Wing, Hemel Hempstead Hospital.
Service / Department specialties
The Occupational Therapists provide assessment and treatment to acute stroke, medical, older people, orthopaedics and surgical patients, and patients in A&E.
We also provide advice and specialist assessment and liaison with colleagues in Primary care.
Referrals / Appointments
We accept referrals for patients in A&E/ Rapid Assessment Unit.
The OT team accept written referrals using a single assessment contact assessment form, the only exceptions to this are A&E/RAU, where referrals can be made verbally.
Acute stroke and hip and knee joint replacement patients are seen on a blanket referral system.
