We recognised and celebrated our staff in a joint award ceremony held on Tuesday 23 May.

The long service and annual awards ceremony celebrated staff who have contributed over 15 years’ continuous service to this trust or its predecessors and staff who have gone above and beyond their call of duty to ensure we deliver the very best care for every patient, every day.

Professor Steve Barnett, Chairman at West Herts said: “Whether you’re a nurse, a housekeeper or a physiotherapist – you have all gone above and beyond your line of duty to deliver great quality care and treatment to our patients. I would like to say congratulations to everyone who received an award today.”

Chief Executive, Katie Fisher said: “Here at West Herts we are dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients, and we couldn’t do this without the enthusiasm and passion from our staff. They are the spirit and lifeblood of our organisation and I would like to say thank you to each and every one of our staff. We truly do appreciate you.”The ceremony was opened by the Trust Chair, Professor Steve Barnett, who thanked all those receiving an award for their loyalty, dedication and commitment. He was supported by Katie Fisher, Chief Executive, and together they presented the awards.

The long service award marked the amazing contribution of staff who have worked for over 15 years – and right up to 45 years - in continuous service for West Herts and the NHS.

Two people received the 40 year award and one lady, Barbara De La Salle received the 45 year award.

The nominees for the annual staff awards were judged in three categories – commitment, care and quality, reflecting the trust’s values. The annual award is an opportunity to publicly acknowledge and celebrate individuals and teams who have made an outstanding contribution to the hospitals’ care for patients.

A variety of staff were recognised during the awards ceremony and both the runners up and winners were presented with a prize and a certificate. Congratulations to all the runners up and winners.

The winners are:

Commitment – Theresa Hamilton (Housekeeper)

Care – Gillian Winkworth and Ben Bream (Physiotherapists)

Quality – Mohamed Chaib  (Care assistant)

 The runners up are:

Commitment – Sarah Cerys

Care – Debbie Green and Lyndsey Rice
