Childcare
The childcare co-ordinator for this Trust is Barbara Leon-Hunt. Barbara offers help and advice on childcare related matters and is responsible for co-ordinating the childcare services that the Trust currently offers.

Nurseries
There is a 46-place nursery based at Watford General Hospital and a 48-place nursery at St Albans City Hospital run by Busy Bees Limited. They are open from 7am to 7pm and will accept children from the age of 3 months to 5 years. Subsidised places are currently available to all permanent Trust staff. If you are interested in a place at the nursery, please call the nurseries direct at Watford on 01923 236801 or St Albans on 01727-897602.
There are also some nurseries in the Hemel Hempstead area that offer a discount to Trust staff.
Childcare Voucher Scheme
The Trust operates the Computershare Childcare Voucher Scheme, which can save money on childcare fees. All working parents are entitled to receive non-taxable childcare vouchers, which are also exempt from National Insurance as part of their salaries, up to a limit of £243 per month per working parent.
Workplace Nurseries Salary Sacrifice Scheme
If you use either of our nurseries at Watford or St Albans and are directly employed by West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust, you may be able to save more money by using this scheme instead of the vouchers, which unlike the voucher scheme, is unlimited.
Emergency Childcare
Trust staff can contact Tinies to request a nanny to come to their home when regular childcare breaks down, or when they might need some out of hours emergency childcare. For further information, call Tinies Childcare on 01727 844040.
Regular Information Sessions
West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust has organised regular childcare information drop-in sessions across all sites to enable staff to find out about and discuss all the childcare options available to them. Dates are available from Barbara Leon-Hunt on 01923 217356.
