  • CLOTS 3 (intermittent leg compression to prevent deep venous thrombosis in acute stroke)
  • SOS (oxygen supplementation in acute stroke)
  • TARDIS (dual vs. triple anti-platelet therapy for the prevention of stroke)
  • IST-3 (thrombolysis up to six hours post-stroke)
  • ENOS (GTN for BP control in acute stroke)
  • CADISS (anti-platelet v anti-coagulant in carotid artery dissection)
  • CLOTS (DVT prevention in acute stroke)
  • DNA lacunar stroke genetic study 
  • GALA (general v local anaesthesia in carotid endarterectomy)

I enjoy teaching anyone and anywhere and talking about stroke; undergraduates, junior doctors, GPs and their staff, pharmacists, practice nurses and community matrons, to raise awareness of stroke, its treatment and prevention; courses for the Royal College of Physicians and Royal Society of Medicine

National Sentinel Audit of Stroke (RCP) – Watford has participated in all 7 rounds since 1998; overall score for the Watford Stroke Unit rising from 31 in 2002 to 88 (15th in UK) in 2006 and 80 in 2008 and 2009.
